Youth Ministry Job Description

PURPOSE To serve in the Youth Ministry focused on developing the spiritual growth of youth (7th – 12th).

ACCOUNTABILITY
• Accountable in performance of Youth Ministry responsibilities to the JBED, the governing body of ACCCN. The Youth Deacon will serve as the primary liaison between the Youth Director and the JBED.
• Accountable to guidance of spiritual growth to the JEM. The English Congregation Pastor will serve as the primary liaison between the Youth Ministry Director and the JEM.

RESPONSIBILITIES

3. Assist in selection, development and preparation of bible study lessons for Fellowship meetings. Serve as staff or counselor during Winter and Summer Retreats.
4. Develop individual and small-group relationships to promote Christian spiritual growth among middle and high-school youth by planning individual and small group meetings, and giving them personal attention through phone calls, letters, updates, etc.
5. Provide spiritual growth opportunities that promote Christian education and Christian service. Develop and implement a vibrant mission and service project ministry. Evaluate existing short-term mission program, recommend improvements, plan and lead a short-term mission.
6. Provide spiritual guidance for Youth Sunday School program. Partner with and support Youth Sunday School leader. Teach Youth Sunday School class. Lead Youth in Wednesday Prayer meeting.
7. Cooperate and participate fully with others of the church staff so all may be mutually encouraged and supported by one another. Attend weekly ACCCN church staff prayer meetings (typically held Wednesday afternoons.)
8. Develop and implement a strategy for personal spiritual growth and development. Meet regularly with English Congregation Pastor for mentoring, guidance, and coaching.

RELATIONSHIPS: The Youth Ministry Director will engage in working relationships with the Youth Ministry Co-workers, Youth parents, Church staff and the English Worship Deacon.

EVALUATION: The English Congregation Pastor will conduct coaching reviews quarterly.

Ecumenical opportunities for young adults (ages 18-30)

Exciting ecumenical opportunities available for young people between the ages of 18-30, nationally and internationally.

The National Council of Churches (NCC) is accepting applications for its Stewards Program during the 2007 General Assembly Meeting in Woodbridge, New Jersey, November 6-8, 2007.

The General Assembly is the annual gathering of 250 delegates from 35 member churches/denominations, representing 40 million Christians in the United States. Young adults will encounter a rich multicultural environment at the meeting and will experience the church at work, living its unity in Jesus. It will also provide them an opportunity to network with other young adults from across the country, worship in an ecumenical setting and interact with church leaders.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) based in Geneva, Switzerland, is also accepting applications for their Stewards Programme. Twenty-five young people (between the ages of 18-30 years) will be invited to participate in the Stewards Program which includes a week-long ecumenical learning program and work on several logistical tasks with WCC staff at the Central Committee meeting. The Stewards Program starts on February 6 (arrival), and ends on February 22 (departure), 2008. Stewards will be part of a unique ecumenical and international community of young adults and gain exposure to the WCC's work.

The WCC is also accepting applications for their Internship Programme which is an opportunity for ecumenical learning and work with the Council. JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Caseworker

Supervisor: Sub-Office Program Coordinator

Status: Full-time, year-round, exempt

Purpose

The goal for the caseworker is to help refugee entrants attain economic self-sufficiency as soon as possible. This position is responsible for the employment and case management requirements as outlined in the grant program that the refugee has been enrolled in. All procedures concerning the goals and priorities as specified in the grant contract must be adhered to.

Qualifications

- Must have a valid Virginia driver's license and means of transportation
- Demonstrate written and verbal language proficiency in English
- Able to converse in any of the various languages of our refugees is desired, but not mandatory

Essential Functions

Case Management

Objective: To ensure that services are provided in a planned, effective and timely manner to eligible clients; are appropriate to the needs of the refugees; and contribute to the early employment and self-sufficiency of the participating refugees. Case management commences immediately upon arrival. Services should support and strengthen refugees' motivation and capacities to become self-supporting. The caseworkers areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:
- establishing the refugees in a place to live - obtaining furniture, food and clothes for the refugees - finding a sponsor church
- transportation as needed
- employment services such as interviews, help with applications, follow up on interviews and leads
- maintaining a case file on each refugee family. These files must contain services provided, money spent and all case notes

General Functions

- Foster and develop good communication and relationships between sub-offices, local agencies and the community - Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions
- Undertake a career development plan together with your immediate supervisor
- Maintain confidentiality of refugee families and fellow staff members
- Follow and support all Virginia Council of Churches and Refugee Resettlement policies

Louisville Institute Offers Sabbatical Grant Program for Pastoral Leaders

Through the Sabbatical Grant for Pastoral Leaders, the Louisville Institute offers pastoral leaders a chance to step out and step back from the pace and pressures of ministry through its Sabbatical Grant for Pastoral Leaders program. The program is designed to provide clergy with the opportunity for personal renewal, study, and reflection. The Louisville Institute will award up to forty grants for eight-week ($10,000) and twelve-week ($15,000) sabbaticals. Recipients must be released from all pastoral duties during the entire grant period. Recipients are free to use the grant award at their discretion. Previous grantees have used their awards for the purchase of books, research material and equipment, conference and seminary expenses, salary replacement, travel, etc. There are no residency or travel requirements or expectations, except for attendance at the preparation consultation in Louisville February 18-20, 2008. All expenses for that consultation are covered by the institute, over and above the grant award. Recipients of a 2007 Sabbatical Grant for Pastoral Leaders shall take this sabbatical between March 1, 2008 and August 31, 2009. The program is open to Christian clergy, church staff members, denominational staff, and others employed in recognized positions of pastoral leadership, ordained and lay. Seminary administrators and faculty members are not eligible for this grant program. In past years, most successful applicants have at least five years of pastoral experience, and anticipate five or more years of active ministry after the sabbatical. English Minister/Pastor Position

The Tri-Valley Chinese Bible Church (TCBC) is searching for a full time Pastor to lead the English Congregation, which is composed of 80+ English-speaking adults and youths. Located in Pleasanton, California (30 miles east of San Francisco), we are a non-denominational, evangelical Asian American Church, holding separate Sunday Worship Services in Mandarin and English. We have about 300+ worshippers attending, including children.

The English Congregation comprises approximately 80+ members and the worshippers are mostly Asian-American families, including middle school, high school, and college students. The English worship service is contemporary in format; Praise songs and hymnals are supplemented with piano and stringed and percussion instruments.

We are looking for a seminary graduate with a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent, a clear calling to the ministry, and evangelical belief. Previous experience in working with, motivating and encouraging people, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are vital. A heart for the Asian culture will be warmly welcomed.

Job Description:
The Community Outreach Manager provides leadership in a catalytic mode for the researching, strategizing, equipping, mentoring, motivating, and implementing of the processes for facilitating church planting movements in relation to CityTeam Ministries and other partner organizations in the assigned city/region. The Vice-President of North American Church Planting will provide mentoring to the Community Outreach Manager in the accomplishment of the previous statement. The Community Outreach Manager will provide leadership for the inter-program processes related to bringing a church planting focus to the city center area in consultation with the City Director.

The Community Outreach Manager is to focus his/her activity in fulfilling the mission statement of CityTeam Ministries.

Specific Duties:

Ministry

1. Create and develop comprehensive prayer strategies
2. Maintain a consistent practice of prayer and Bible study.
3. Research people group studies, strategies, and resources for the city and sharing with the Vice-President of North American Church Planting.
4. Assist the Vice-President of North American Church Planting in the North American/regional training events and online training.
5. Care for his/her own spiritual walk.
6. Maintain an accountability group which meets regularly.
7. Practice the ministry of discipling others.
8. Exhibit in all relationships the love of Christ for hurting people, a high standard of moral and financial integrity, and love for God the Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the practical living out of the Shimah.
9. Develop and coordinate the interns within the program.

Personnel

1. Conduct and participate in staff performance evaluation process in a timely manner as requested by the Human Resources Department.
2. Lead, train, motivate and mentor the CPM strategy/implementation team.
3. Recruit and train Church Planters and other leadership supportive to the CPM strategy.
4. Develop and manage assigned personnel.

Planning and Implementation

1. Map out the least reached people of the city, determining lostness, worldviews, bridges and gatekeepers for the respective least reached peoples of the city.
2. Put into place a comprehensive strategy to reach all least-reached communities/groups in the city.
3. Oversee the development and implementation of specific strategies for family-based evangelism, empowerment and discipleship within the target neighborhood.
4. Put into place annual plans and long range plans with SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and tangible) goals and resources (financial, personnel, materials) for selected priority least reached peoples with month, quarterly and annual reports/evaluations.
5. Put into place equipping centers and mentoring programs for church planters/leaders.

Public Relations and Promotion

1. Discover potential partnerships with other agencies and organizations who are CPM
friendly to fulfill the church planting vision of CityTeam Ministries and upon approval from VP and City Director putting into place those partnerships.

Personal Donor Cultivation

1. Develop, implement, and maintain a personal donor cultivation and missionary support program in accordance with a plan established annually in cooperation with the Vice President of Development.


Job Requirements:
1. Must have a personal and consistent relationship with Jesus Christ and be active in a local church living out the Shimah.
2. Must have demonstrated in previous relationships a high commitment to Christ, the local church, evangelism, and disciple making.
3. Must have compatible theology on major issues of CityTeam's statement of faith.
4. Must have a calling to serving God and the body of Christ and have a burden to see disadvantaged people come to Christ and have their need alleviated.
5. Must have demonstrated in previous relationships a teachable spirit and be committed to team participation.
6. Must have demonstrated in previous relationships the ability to put together and lead a team.
7. Must have demonstrated effective communication skills in speaking and writing.
8. Must have a commitment to serving the youth and families in an urban context.
9. Must be an initiator who can work under deadlines.
10. Preferably multilingual in English and a second language representing major ethnic groups in the area.

The Executive Minister, Ethnic Ministries provides direction, co-ordination, support and supervision to the work and staff of the Ethnic Ministries Unit within the General Council Office of The United Church of Canada. Job Description: CAMPAIGN ASSISTANT

Children's Ministry (Full Time) - Chinese Church in Christ (Milpitas, CA)

Chinese Church in Christ is an evangelical and non-denominational Church. We are located on the historic Main Street in Milpitas, California. There are five independently-administered churches of Chinese Church in Christ. The first was formed 35 years ago in San Jose. The Milpitas CCIC began in 1987 and has three language congregations. We have five worship services: Mandarin, Cantonese, and Coffee Talk (English adult), Student Ministry (High School), and Children. Our average Sunday has about 540 people.

Ministry Description (Full Time)

Our children’s ministry has about 120 children from age one to age eleven. The majority of our children were born in the United States. All of our classes are taught in English, although Chinese is used at the younger ages. Our desire is to introduce Jesus as their life-long friend, Savior, and Lord; and to develop young disciples who live out the Purpose Driven Life. The Children’s Minister position focuses on a) shepherding the children and communicating with their parents, b) training and equipping adults and youth to be involved in this ministry, and c) recruiting and administering co-workers to serve the children.

Qualifications

1. A calling to serve the Lord and children in a church setting.
